Antilock Brake & Traction Control (ABS/TCS) System

ABS/TCS System Diagnostic:

1. Connect a jumper wire to TBS terminal at the Diagnostics port and attach it to chassis ground.
2. Turn ignition to ON
3. After the ABS warning light illuminates for 3 seconds, the ABS warning indicator should respond by flashing any stored DTCs.
4. To clear stored codes, activate the brake pedal switch by pressing the brake pedal 10 times at an interval of at least once per second.
5. Turn ignition to OFF
6. Remove jumper wire

DTC 10 / P0105 - Manifold absolute pressure sensor

DTC 11 / C1145 - Right front wheel-speed sensor or sensor rotor

DTC 12 / C1155 - Left front wheel-speed sensor or sensor rotor

DTC 13 / C1165 - Right rear wheel-speed sensor or sensor rotor

DTC 14 / C1175 - Left rear wheel-speed sensor or sensor rotor

DTC 15 - Wheel-speed sensor or sensor rotor (wheel not yet determined)

DTC 16 - Steering angle sensor

DTC 17 / C1117 - Engine speed input circuit failure

DTC 22 / C1210 - Right front pressure reduction solenoid valve

DTC 23 / C1214 - Right front pressure retention solenoid valve

DTC 24 / C1194 - Left front pressure reduction solenoid valve

DTC 25 / C1198 - Left front pressure retention solenoid valve

DTC 26 / C1246 - Right rear pressure reduction solenoid valve

DTC 27 / C1254 - Right rear pressure retention solenoid valve

DTC 28 / C1242 - Left rear pressure reduction solenoid valve

DTC 29 / C1250 - [With TCS] Left rear pressure retention solenoid valve  [Without TCS] ABS pump or left rear/right front brake line

DTC 30 / C1140 - ABS pump or left front/right rear brake line

DTC 41 / C1148 - Right front wheel-speed sensor or sensor rotor

DTC 42 / C1158 - Left front wheel-speed sensor or sensor rotor

DTC 43 / C1168 - Right rear wheel-speed sensor or sensor rotor

DTC 87 / U2021 - Engine coolant temperature at or below 0°C (32°F)*

* TCS/TCS Off indicator will illuminate signaling that the traction control system is unavailable until the coolant temperature exceeds 0°C (32°F) -- Millenia owner's operation manual.

Notes: It has been demonstrated that some of the earliest models inappropriately flag DTC 82 due to a programming defect in early ECUs that resulted in a communications timeout between the ECU and ABS/TCS module.  In many cases, a slow responding oxygen sensor is to blame.
